We were excited to share the room with now Congressman John Curtis this week. Colin and I drove down to Provo to the Marriott Hotel and set up for our first election party. We were the only vendor contracted to be there which was pretty cool, it was like we were the life of the party (as per usual.) We were set-up, up front close to the stage where a personal and humble victory speech was given. We got to see and feel an election party up close and personal.
The guests were all friends, family, and campaign personnel. Along with local News teams and broadcast media. The people were slow to the booth at first, which was odd for us. Many guests said they haven’t seen a photo booth at an election party before. Once they realized who and what we were the fun began and the line grew. We had a constant wave of people laughing, retaking “ugly” photos, and cheering on a win for John.
The victory was John’s and the people celebrated and took more pictures as they shuffled out of the Conference room of the hotel. The campaign managers were eager to get out of there, I don’t blame them because they probably have been working incessantly. They were almost all packed up but we were not allowing them to finish because we wanted everyone to enjoy the booth for as long as they could. Normally that wouldn’t matter but the campaign provided the backdrop, they couldn’t pack it up until we finished.
Once they saw an opportunity to take it down they jumped on it. No matter, we took a few more photos and it all ended great. We met some awesome people, made great connections, and provided a nearly perfect service. The only bummer we had was not being able to get a picture with John, he was bombarded and had to be out at a certain time. Oh well, maybe next time.
